The Star Trek versus Star Wars debate is one of the longest running in all of science fiction. People battle over the Science the relative power of the technolgoy of each ship, and the relative merits of the different species and competing factions. Though of course on some level, everyone knows this is all make believe, this doesn’t stop people from almost violently defending their beliefs. The Usenet group for star trek fans is constantly invaded by star wars fans who like to taunt their adversaries. Most would say that it is a big universe, why can’t we all get along? Amen to that.
