Vacationing in the Colorados
Vacationing at the Colorado MountainsHow can you possibly say you have been to Colorado without sampling the state’s colossal mountains? The Rocky Mountains are the most famous peaks in the state, and some actually reach over 14,000 feet. These peaks are known as fourteeners and are popular tourist destinations for mountain climbing. The Rocky Mountain National Park offers the best in scenery, mountain climbing and other amenities and sporting activities. Besides mountain climbing, guests of the park can hike along the trail, ski and fish. Though some peaks are highly populated by tourists other paths are less traveled and provide for a quieter vacation. If you want to avoid the crowds opt for one of the smaller peaks at 10,000-13,000 feet.Other popular locations include Trail Ridge Road and Bear Lake Road, both ideal for hiking and backpacking. Some visitors like to camp in an RV or perhaps in a tent at a camping site to get in tune with nature. Others prefer sporting activities such as cross-country skiing, downhill skiing and snowshoeing. Over three million tourists a year visit the Rocky Mountain National Park. Isn’t it about time you see what’s so special about the Colorado Rockies? (That’s the mountains, not the sports team!)
