What are dive computers?

Dive computers are usually wristwatch sized devices which are mainly for calculating safe rates to ascend to the surface without getting the bends.  The most basic dive computers will show the user their current depth, how long they’ve been in the water, and how long they can stay under without having to make decompression stops in their ascent to the surface.  Some dive computers will directly connect to the air tank, showing the diver current air pressure, and an estimate of how long they can remain in the water on that air supply.  Some more advanced dive computers will even show the diver how long they have before they can safely board an airplane without getting the bends.Someone looking for a dive computer should get one which is very easy to read quickly while on a dive, as well as one which is very simple to use on a dive, and user friendly.
