what are exercise weights and how can they help me?
The use of exercise weights can increase your caloric usage and add muscle at the same time. Weights can be either dumbbells or barbells. Dumbbells are easier to handle and you can even take small ones with you when you are out taking a walk.
While out for a brisk walk, holding a small dumbbell in each hand, swing them forward and back extending your arms accordingly. You should feel the muscles stretch while moving. Keep this up for the entire walk and as you lengthen your walks you will find you have burned even more calories than without the weights.
Walking, running, and swimming are among the most popular aerobic type exercises and each can be enhanced by adding weights to the program.
